After new renovations, Paragon helped Dov with the finishing touches to his project
The Challenge
Dov had added a new balcony off of an upstairs bedroom during a recent home renovation. But he decided after completing the balcony that he wanted to be able to access the ground floor from the new balcony without having to go inside. With a distance between the two outdoor spaces at about 12ft, an outdoor staircase was the best solution to his problem. It was also important to Dov that the staircase included a safety measure to keep children and pets from coming down the stairs unexpectedly. Dov’s home is in Florida, so his new staircase needed to be able to withstand significant rain, heat, and humidity without rusting or degrading while also being beautiful and complementary to the existing structure.
The Process
Dov contacted Paragon to start planning the perfect outdoor spiral staircase to add to his gorgeous new balcony. He spoke with Steve, one of Paragon’s knowledgeable sales representatives, who helped design his stairs to spiral the right way and made sure Dov ended up with a staircase that fit his needs and looked great. Steve recommended a gate at the top of the staircase as an added safety precaution and was able to help Dov find a gorgeous staircase that fit his budget, his needs, and his vision. Without Paragon’s stair experts, like Steve, to help ensure the spiral staircase is spiraling correctly, it’s easy to make a costly mistake. The Staircase Design
Dov chose the beautiful Retreat Spiral Staircase with wood treadings to complement his newly renovated home. He also opted for an aluminum powder coat since he lives in Florida and wanted his outdoor staircase to stand up against the elements and not rust over time. With the aluminum powder coat, his outdoor staircase will be able to last for years through Florida’s unpredictable and sometimes extreme weather.
The Results
Dov and his handyman, neither of whom had ever assembled or installed a staircase before, put together the Retreat Spiral Staircase themselves in about two days. Dov said that his experience installing the staircase was fairly straightforward, and the process went pretty smoothly. “The hardest part, honestly, was the handrail. Untwisting it and figuring out how to get it attached to the railings,” he said. Dov did reach out to Paragon’s customer care team to answer some questions during the installation process, and he was able to get all the help he needed over the phone. Dov now has a safe, stylish, and weatherproof spiral staircase going from his new balcony down twelve feet to the ground floor patio.
